bob-esposito > All photos in this group can be found elsewhere on this website. This group highlights Olivia's nurturing side. Olivia was big on that.

When Dylan came to the farm as a calf, he was too small to be with the other steer. Olivia accepted him and they became pen and field mates. They went everywhere. They did everything. And if you visited the farm during that period odds were good that together they would come meet you for introductions.

bob-esposito > Olivia and Dylan Summer 2008.

After Dylan moved permanently into the steer field, if they happened to find themselves in the same general area they would usually gravitate to each other and graze the fence line.

You just knew there was a connection.
bob-esposito > Felix(l) and Olivia(r) graze near the steer field.

When Felix arrived at the farm he was a scared little dude. Olivia's acceptance helped him feel that there wasn't much to be scared about anymore and he could just hang out and be a sheep instead.

Felix is now in with the rest of the sheep partly from receiving the benefit of a good start at the farm from Olivia.
bob-esposito > Olivia and Albie on rounds.

Albie arrived when he was only a few months old and it was decided he would do better to not be with the other goats, but he could go with Olivia if she would accept him, which she did. They fast became grazing buds, bunk mates and feed can felons. Olivia introduced Albie to her daily circuit around the farm and that circuit is now Albie's circuit (with the exception of Albie's new curious habit of sneaking in with the pigs for a nap).
bob-esposito > Olivia and Albie share a pen.
bob-esposito > Olivia and Albie mine a hay pile. This was shortly after Albie's partial leg amputation.
bob-esposito > (l-r) Albie, Olivia and Clover.

Olivia didn't bond with Clover the same way as she did with Dylan or Albie, but they did befriend each other and all three became pen mates and a formidable grazing gang.

As with Felix the Lamb (not shown), Clover now blasts around the farm having benefited from Olivia's knowledge of the farm.
bob-esposito > (l-r) Albie, Clover and Olivia graze the area between the sheep and steer fields.
bob-esposito > Caesar marks Olivia's jacket.

For a short while, when barn cats Caesar and Pogo (not shown) arrived, Caesar took up occasionally following Olivia around and Olivia didn't seem to mind. Olivia would just be walking along and Caesar would join her and walk for brief stretches and then go some place else. To this day, I've never seen Caesar do that with any other animal at the farm besides Pogo (fellow cat and possible litter mate). Caesar will approach other animals from time to time but it was different with Olivia. He wanted to spend at least some small amount of time with her. I've always interpreted that as he received something from Olivia. What it was only they know but the two of them fit in this group of photos.
